Our Crew at Even Keel

The services at Even Keel are exceptional, and so are the employees. They are a close knit family that care as much about each other as they do you. Finding the right person to add to our family can take a lot of time, that must be why we choose to stay together for years and years!

Massage was introduced to Alexa as a stressed out, anxiety laden teenager.  She found the best therapy for her was on the table, silent, where magic seemed to take her away to a calmed state. After many years as a stressed out CPA she now finds herself with the most amazing career ever as a massage therapist and better yet the owner of Even Keel where working with other passionate therapists is what gets her out of bed every day.  For over 10 years Alexa has practiced many forms of massage but her true passion is rehabilitative and Thai Yoga Massage.  As a Thai Massage teacher she loves training the staff to join in the ever growing practice of Thai Yoga Massage. Though her hands on practice has become smaller over time her love of training others and keeping the business of the Keel balanced and growing is what keeps her smiling!

As a graduate of Anne Arundel Community College, Kat earned her Associate's Degree in Therapeutic Massage and discovered a particular love of Deep Tissue and stretching techniques. She was lucky enough to study Thai Yoga Massage with Alexa and adores the East-meets-West flow of the practice, and also has studied TMJD technique and Sports Massage. Kat is dedicated to the wellness of our clients, and promises to continue to learn and to deepen her practice while working with them to find relief for mind and body, as well as to always have a hot pack handy.

Having graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage, I've practiced the art of massage therapy for fifteen years. Each year has advanced my knowledge; trained in pregnancy massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue, stretching and incorporating aromatherapy into my practice to ease muscle pain and heal my clients to achieve their goals. In addition, I've added the ancient art of cupping, which is one of the oldest natural therapies, dating back to 3000BC. Cupping provides yet another modality to use with my clients to achieve maximum benefits. In 2004, I continued my studies at the Von Lee International School of Esthetics, graduating as valedictorian and expanding my knowledge as a licensed Esthetician. I continue my education in both massage and esthetics, training on the newest techniques, and attending conferences and conventions with top authorities in both fields. I am a life-long Maryland resident, and currently reside in Bowie with my husband and two children.
And as an added Bonus she is an acquaintance of Kat's and Heather gave Jennifer a massage years ago and that was what convinced Jennifer to become a Massage Therapist! Small world!

Kylie is a graduate of Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, the nation’s first school devoted exclusively to esthetics, where she had the privilege to learn under school founder and industry legend, Carole Walderman.  While skincare may be her number one passion Kylie knew she had more to offer so she returned to school for her massage education.  Attending the Anne Arundel Community College's Massage Therapy program allowed her to continue working while in school and she stared here at the Keel in 2007.  After graduating from the program and receiving her national and state certifications Kylie was able to start training under the widely experienced staff at the Keel, Alexa, Michele, David, and Kelly.  Many of you may remember getting discounted "Newbie" massages while she was in training.    Well she's not in training anymore.  With over 6 years of experience working on some of the toughest bodies Annapolis has to offer Kylie has developed her own holistic approach to wellness and loves having the flexibility of both treating your skin and your muscles. Wanting to further pursue her love for medical esthetics  Kylie now splits her time between the Keel and O'Donnell Vein and Medical Spa,  granting her access to state of the art equipment and physician grade peels and products.  Needless to say her love of her field and her knowledge has tripled, and her skin has never looked better. If you haven't had one of her Fassages you are missing out!

After 14 years in the dental field (realizing that dentistry is not for everyone) Jennifer went to the College of Southern Maryland where she received her A.A.S. in Massage Therapy.  She was lucky enough to have hands on training take place at a retirement/assisted living facility; working on military vets and at local nursing homes and hospitals where she experienced a wide variety of individuals. After graduating in 2006 Jennifer was employed at The Center for Neuromuscular Massage and Rehab in NW Washington, DC where she studied massage for the child bearing year, Neuromuscular Therapy, TMD manual therapy, Active and Isolated Massage, and many more. In her free time Jennifer likes to garden, paint, and read. The Keel has been blessed with Jennifer's vast and variety of talents.

Jessica graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage in 2009. She joined the Keel crew in June and is fitting in seamlessly. Jessica is trained in Deep tissue massage, Sports massage, Aromatherapy, Prenatal massage, and Swedish massage but is always learning and growing in her practice. She is personable, caring, and kind but can certainly bring some deep pressure when necessary. Jessica is very knowledgeable about the body and works in a nurturing and empathetic manner. She is particularly interested in prenatal massage as she is a mother as well. Jessica is excited to meet her new clients!

After sixteen years as a Licensed Massage Therapist, Yvonne has perfected her skills in the art of deep tissue, sports massage, myoskeletal alignment, thai yoga massage and oncology. Trained at the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tuscon, Arizona she discovered her love for the beneficial therapeutic nature of healing through touch.  In addition, she is an Reiki Master.  Through Yvonne's eastern and western practices she can easily bring her clients into a  calm, stress-less state!  Her journey to serve others is a life long passion. Her free time is spent practicing yoga and spending time with her family.  A little unknown Keel trivia;  Yvonne was Even Keel's first employees over ten years ago!

Kerry started her journey to becoming a massage therapist when she was in her mid twenties and felt unfulfilled with her career in international shipping. She desired something more active than a desk job, a career where she could help others and feel like she was making a difference every day. She attended the Baltimore School of Massage and graduated as a Licensed Massage Therapist.  Her Bachelor of Science from SUNY Maritime College in International Trade and  Transportation coupled with amazing massage skills makes her not only talented but quite interesting! Her love for helping others through therapeutic bodywork has only continued to grow since. Kerry likes to incorporate stretching, deep tissue, and Swedish techniques into each session to give every client a massage tailored to their needs, whether they're simply looking for relaxation, or are seeking relief from aches and pains. In her free time, Kerry loves being outdoors & active, stand-up paddling, reading, knitting, going to concerts, and just spending time with friends and family. Ask Kerry about her time on an oil tanker full of molasses sailing through the Panama Canal.
Graduating from Atlanta School of Massage in 2014, Kate has continued to expand her education and passion for massage therapy. She believes in a mind/body connection which can be strengthened and nourished by receiving massage. Having a particular knowledge in muscular attachment points and fascial lines, Kate can work specifically or use more broad techniques to achieve the client's session goals. Certified in reflexology, she also believes in approaching wellness through the feet, and never forgets the importance of a good, deep breath.

Kathleen found her way to Even Keel after a career managing and working behind the scenes in the U.S. Senate.  An avid runner since the 1988 Presidential campaign when she was chained to her desk, and a life-long practitioner of yoga, she spends her time at the Keel balancing the needs of our clients with our incredible therapists.  A guerilla gardener with an award winning landscape at home, she serves as our official “elf” at the Keel.  Transitioning from season to season our warm, zen-like atmosphere into a place of beauty and good karma.
